7/24 - Galatians: chapter 3

Paul's contention that justification comes not through the law or the works of the law but by faith in Christ and in his death is supported by appeals to Christian experience and to scripture.

In order to clarify the false teaching among Galatians, Paul uses four different arguments to support his Gospel teaching: God's promise to Abraham, God's curse on works of law, God's promise before the Mosaic law, and inheritance of God's promise from the baptism through Christ.

In chapter 3, Paul stated clearly we are free by faith through the grace of our Lord. In spite all the theological arguments, Abraham gives us an perfect example. We can simply follow the foot step of Abraham's to trust the Lord. There is no question in my mind, our salvation comes from God's grace through our faith. Simply abiding the law can not free us from sin and eventually leads us to the Gehenna.

7/17 - Galatians Ch2

After 14 years journey, Paul finally came to meet the Apostles. Imaging difficulties Paul had faced during 14 years of preaching without Apostles' blessing. Although the leaders finally accepted Paul, it requires tremendous a mount of faith for Paul to continue the journey during these 14 years.
No one in his right mind would accept the task but Paul did. As Paul emphasizes, it was Gods' will that led the journey. Regardless weather the mission is possible, Paul accepted God's assignment and eventually prevail. For man can plan the course, God directs the step. It is our Lord to make things happen.

As we continue on chapter 2 of St. Paul's letter to Galatians, we will go through this historic Peter-Paul confrontation and led to the triumph of the Gospel, the truth of Gospel.
"For through the law, I died to the law, that I might live for God; yet I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me; insofar as I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who has loved me and given himself up for me." We receive salvation through the grace of the Lord. Jesus died for us and we receive this grace through Jesus Christ.

Arthur will lead us the discussion of chapter 2.

7/10 - St. Paul the letter to the Galatians

We have come the journey finishing Paul's letter to the Romans. In this week's study, we are continuing with Paul's letter to the Galatians.
To those Christians newly converted from paganism, Paul re-stated the key concepts for Christianity. For the early church, some missionaries might have imposed certain Mosaic law to those neophytes including the law of circumcision. These interlopers insisted on the necessity of following certain precepts of the Mosaic law along with faith in Christ. When Paul learned of the situation, he wrote this defense of his apostolic authority and of the correct understanding of the faith.
Along the same apostolic theme as Romans, Paul made us clear that salvation is truly the grace of the Lord. None of the human intervention, especially the "law" created from human beings, can lead us to the justice of the Lord
We will start the summer with St. Paul's letter to the Galatians in our Bible study. We will pray the the Lord to lead us throughout this journey. May the Lord provide us guidance and wisdom to have deepen our faith through thy grace.

Bettina will lead us the discussion starting in chapter 1.
